There are many literary festivals, yes, and more every day, but it is not usual for up to four to coincide in the same weekend, and in addition to the Lletraescena and the MOT, which began yesterday in Teià and Olot, respectively, there are also on the one hand, the FLIC, for children's and youth literature and arts at the Disseny Hub in Barcelona, and also the Domini Màgic for Poetry in Santa Coloma de Farners. Lletraescena, Teià's literature and theater festival, enters its third edition with talks and shows. One of those that can be seen, today at the La Flor theater in La Palma, is El gegant del Pi, a monologue written and interpreted by Pau Vinyals, who defines it as "a creative process of finding the words of all silences that inhabit a family (...) An autofiction of the inheritance received, of an attempt to face the construction of a home". Last year he won the BBVA theater award and started touring the festival. A little earlier there will be a book club about the play Entrevistes breus a dones exceptionales, with the playwright Joan Yago and the director of the play, Mònica Bofill, moderated by Elisenda Guiu.
The main part of the festival, however, will be on Saturday, and will begin with literary Itineraries dramatized by this town of Maresme and a book market in the street, as well as a family show about Moby Dick and conversations and readings in the morning and afternoon with the participation of Oriol Broggi, Albert Reverendo, Clara Segura, Espartac Peran, Marta Carnicero, Carlota Subirós, Victoria Szpunberg, Montse Vellvehí or Marc Artigau among others, to end the Sunday morning with several acts.
The MOT, which is being held this weekend in Olot and next in Girona, is dedicated this year to the so-called literatures of the self with talks with a multitude of authors curated by Xavier Pla, an expert in the field (last year he dedicated the essay El soldat de Baltimore. Assaigs sobre literature i realitat en temps d'autoficció, published by Lleonard Muntaner). Thus, today, in the Sala El Torín, they will deal with the painful self (Josep Girós and Jaume Ferrer moderated by Gemma Ventura), from the I to the you (Claudia Durastani and Miguel Ángel Hernández led by David Guzmán), while on Saturday it will begin with the VerMOT in Plaça de Braus, about the exposed self (with Marta Pasqual, Mar Bosch and Toni Sala moderated by Anna Ballbona), and then in El Torín, the political self (with Jordi Graupera and Ignacio Peyró moderated by Júlia Ojeda) and Finally, who am I? (Héctor Abad Faciolince and Faura Ferrero driven by Xavi Ayén).
Next week in Girona, from Thursday to Saturday at the Carles Rahola library (except the VerMOT, in the Guingueta de Fontajau park), the festival will continue with around twenty participants and seven more converts.
