The virtuous circle of electric mobility

Finding ways to make mobility sustainable is a challenge for the planet and people's health. Using solar panels to charge an electric vehicle at home closes a virtuous circle of renewable energy, but much more can be done to intelligently manage energy in a home.

Mobile World Capital Barcelona and Wallbox have generated a proposal to visualize energy management systems through a printed interactive model. The aim is for congressmen to explore, through a system of lights, the different energy flows and the different possibilities and innovations offered by charging electric vehicles at home.

Along with the model of a home that has solar panels, a garage with a charger and an electric car, visitors to the stand will be able to select the different possibilities for energy management at home. They will use a tablet to select the different possibilities, and lines of lights will help understand the electricity flows of each modality.

On the tablet, the three energy management systems available for the home are solar charging – called eco-smart –, charging on demand – power boost – and bidirectional electric charging.

This last system allows the electric vehicle to be charged with solar energy during the day and store the surplus in the car's battery. When the possibility of charging with energy from the sun ends, in the afternoon and evening, the system supplies energy to the home directly using the energy that has been stored during the day in the electric vehicle's batteries. That flow of energy is adapted to operate precisely during peak hours, when energy is most expensive, thus reducing bills.

The programming allows the electric vehicle to be charged automatically at the lowest rates. The screens will explain the different modalities while the lights on the model of the house turn on for each option, so that they explain the energy flows.

At the MWCapital stand, a real model of the Pulsar Plus charger from Wallbox will be shown alongside the model, so that its operation and dimensions can be understood. Finally, visitors will find a constantly running popcorn machine that will help explain Wallbox's bi-directional charging, which will soon be available on the market.
