The vice president of Aragon (Vox) tears up a pamphlet about Ramadan

The vice president of Aragón and leader of Vox in the community, Alejandro Nolasco, harshly charged this Wednesday against Islam, a religion that he linked to violence and mistreatment of women. For this reason, he demanded that the central government paralyze the granting of Spanish nationality "to people from Islamic countries" and that acts linked to this creed not be promoted, as has happened in Huesca with the publication of an informative brochure on the festival of Ramadan.

"It seems serious to me that some city councils, such as Huesca, are dedicated to promoting festivals that have to do with Islam, that religion of abuse of women, and promote Ramadan as part of cultural identity or multiculturalism. This is the response that I have to this type of actions,” said the ultra while he tore up the pamphlet in front of the press.

The brochure in question, published by the Association of Arab and African Immigrant Women in collaboration with the municipal Diversity service of Huesca, explains the dates of Ramadan and other key festivities for Muslims such as Eid-al-fitr or Eid-al-adha (the Feast of the Lamb). After its publication, the far-right party in the capital of Huesca accused the mayor, Lorena Orduna (PP), of making an “apology” for the month of fasting of the Muslim religion with public money, to which the popular ranks denounced that Vox “tries to stir up prejudices.”

With the memory of the anniversary of 11-M on the surface and in line with his party's strategy of linking immigration with crime, Nolasco recalled that this Monday a jihadist, "residing in Zaragoza, who “He recognized his integration into Daesh and his attempt to enlist in the army.”

His statements took place at the doors of the Cortes of Aragón, “which was the target of another threat from another jihadist who resided in the Zaragoza neighborhood of Delicias.” Likewise, he recalled the arrest in the Aragonese capital in November of an imam for his alleged involvement in the recruitment and indoctrination of young people to introduce them to radical Islam or the recruitment hotspots detected in the Daroca prison (province of Zaragoza).

“The problem is with the person who doesn't want to see it. “Zaragoza has repeatedly become a center of jihadist activities and this is linked to illegal immigration, because we do not have control over the people who enter nor do we know what they have done in their countries of origin,” he asserted.

In addition, Nolasco said that women's rights must be respected, something that he claims the Islamic religion does not do. “In the Koran, there is a phrase that means 'hit them.' It is in the Quran, it is not an interpretation of an imam on duty,” he stated.

His words have provoked harsh criticism from the opposition. The socialist spokesperson in the Cortes, Mayte Pérez, pointed out in her X account that these “hyperbolic, not at all edifying and provocative statements are not typical of a Vice President or of this century.”

Chunta Aragonesista also attacked that the vice president spread “xenophobic messages that promote hatred.” “How long is President Azcón going to consent to these types of attitudes that are so inappropriate and that denigrate both religious freedom and the Government of Aragon itself?” questioned its leader, Joaquín Palacín.
