The test messages from the Civil Protection alert system arrive tomorrow, Thursday, September 14, to the most populated territory in Catalonia. The strident sound that warns in case of emergencies will ring on all telephones in the Barcelona district.
The message that all mobile phone users will receive is a test, and this will be indicated in the text sent, which would be used in the event of a serious emergency that requires some specific action from the population.
Alerts will be sent to all mobile phones located in the regions of Barcelonès, Vallès Occidental, Vallès Oriental, Maresme and Baix Llobregat. The shipment will be divided into four sectors, which will receive the same message at different times in the morning. At 10 o'clock the notice will reach the phones located in Vallès Oriental, Maresme, Sant Adrià de Besòs, Badalona and Santa Coloma de Gramenet. At 11 a.m. it will be sent to the city of Barcelona, at 12 noon to the region of Vallès Occidental and at 1 p.m. to Baix Llobregat and Hospitalet de Llobregat.
Civil Protection alerts on mobile phones are designed to convey to the population the instructions to follow immediately to protect themselves and avoid damage when they are in the area affected by an emergency, catastrophe or serious accident. They consist of receiving pop-up notifications (text messages) on the screen of smart mobile phones located in the emergency area at the time the alert is sent and while the alert is active.
The sound of the warning messages on the mobile phone is loud and strident to be able to properly alert. It is default and cannot be configured. When a mobile receives the message, the vibration notification will also occur. Once read, you must mark the “accept” option that appears on the screen. All mobile phones will ring and vibrate simultaneously, even if they are silent. It will also ring on the devices of people passing through by road or rail.
