The TecnoCampus accompanies companies to innovate in the circular economy

Leser Yoga creates specific clothing for this activity, made with natural and biological materials that are biodegradable and that hydrate the wearer's skin. This company, located in the TecnoCampus of Mataró, applies the principles of the circular economy in its production. Now, a program promoted by the TecnoCampus wants to accompany this and other companies to promote new entrepreneurial initiatives related to this production model.

The circular economy seeks sustainable growth over time, by optimizing resources, reducing the consumption of raw materials and recovering waste through recycling, or giving it a second life as a new product. These principles are what Leser Yoga applies in its products.

Xènia Rosales, from Leser Yoga, explains that to create their garments they have been based on a biodegradable material that contains cotton and algae.

The algae are what provide the fabric with its cosmetic properties that help hydrate the skin. "I have atopic skin and I was worried about the clothes to wear for sports," she explains about the origin of the idea that led her to create Leser Yoga.

The company was created two years ago, had the support of the TecnoCampus Reimagine Textile incubator, and is already planning to continue advancing with new initiatives related to circularity.

The TecnoCampus has recently launched the StartCircular program precisely to accompany companies in their transformation towards circularity. As explained by the TecnoCampus, any company, even if it is not newly created, can incorporate elements of sustainability, whether in products or services or in production processes, to deal with the climate emergency, to comply with the specific regulations in each area but also for social and environmental responsibility of companies. The program also wants to help promote new entrepreneurial initiatives in this field.

StartCircular, coordinated by the Transfer, Innovation and Business area, has the support of the Tecnocampus Chair of Circular Economy and Sustainability and is part of the strategy of the city of Mataró to promote the transition towards a circular economy. The program offers various services to companies and entrepreneurs to rethink business strategy to become a more sustainable company and address social and environmental challenges with new technological and/or innovative solutions.

Among the services offered by the program are awareness-raising and training, support and advice, and financing through grants and subsidies aimed at investing in the development of technologies that respect the environment and circularity.

At this time, the TecnoCampus is starting the training itinerary, which can be consulted on the web. The participants in the itinerary will also be able to opt for advice from experts from the TecnoCampus circular economy chair to work in a personalized way on the implementation of sustainability elements in their projects.
