The TAD closes the door for the Government to suspend Rubiales

The Superior Sports Council (CSD) will not be able to disqualify Luis Rubiales, the former president of the Federation already suspended by FIFA, because he needed the Administrative Court of Sport (TAD) to open a file for his behavior as a possible "very serious" and after long deliberations it only considers that it could be a "serious" fault.

In this way, the CSD, as was its intention, will not be able to convene its Permanent Commission in 48 hours to disqualify Rubiales. As announced by the Minister of Culture and Sports, Miquel Iceta, shortly after learning of the TAD's resolution, the CSD will urge the sports court to be the body that provisionally suspends Rubiales.

What the TAD has agreed has been to partially uphold the CSD's complaint and open a disciplinary file against Rubiales for two serious infractions. Unlike the Government, the court sees no abuse of authority and the maximum penalty of disqualification would be two years.

Luis Rubiales has already been provisionally suspended by FIFA for 90 days since last Saturday the 26th for his behavior after the final of the Women's World Cup in Sydney, in which he kissed the Spanish international Jenni Hermoso on the mouth in the delivery of trophies for the victory of Spain against England and made obscene gestures from the box of authorities.
