The summer melon of the moon

We are about to reach the new moon and this summer night we will already have the shape of a melon cut, as can be seen in these images captured in Altet, in the Urgell region, for Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.

The waning moon is the interval between the full moon and the new moon. Normally, reference is made to the last quarter phase.

When the illuminated part of the moon is seen in the shape of a "C" it is waning, as can be seen in these images. When it looks like a "D" it is increasing. On the way to the new moon, the moon acquires in the sky perhaps its most artistic and literary form, the most drawn.

The waning moon is one of the four lunar phases that occur monthly, and together with the waxing moon and the full moon, which can be seen if the sky is clear.

The new moon, new moon or intermoon is a lunar phase that occurs when the moon is located exactly between the Earth and the Sun, so that its illuminated hemisphere cannot be seen from our planet.
