The State approves the route to "humanize" the N-340 and reduce noise on the A-7 in Tarragona

The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has approved the public information file and the final layout to "humanize" several sections of the N-340 in Tarragona, as well as the reduction of noise pollution on the A-7, within the same municipality .

The works have an estimated budget of 9.18 million euros (VAT included). The project includes three actions: the construction of a lane for bicycles and pedestrians on the N-340 - between the link with the A-7 in the northeast of the city and up to Altafulla (Tarragonès) -, the construction of another bicycle lane and pedestrians around the Francolí River bridge on the N-340, and the installation of acoustic screens on both sides of the A-7 in Tarragona.

According to the Ministry, once the works are completed, the affected sections of the N-340 will be transferred to the Tarragona City Council.

The mayor of the city, Rubén Viñuales, has celebrated the news and has assured that it is "a historical milestone".

Viñuales has highlighted that the approval of the bicycle and pedestrian lanes of the N-340 is "a clear commitment to sustainable and balanced growth, both territorially, environmentally and in mobility."

The mayor added that the construction of the Levante bike lane is "the most transformative commitment to sustainable mobility in the city." Likewise, the project also foresees the expansion of the Francolí bridge to dedicate space to bicycles, which will allow Ponent to be connected to the city center.

On the other hand, the mayor also highlighted the installation of acoustic screens on the A-7 highway, a demand claimed by residents.
