The residents of Tibidabo Avenue in Barcelona organize themselves into an association

The residents of Tibidabo Avenue in Barcelona have come together to form a new neighborhood association in Barcelona that, under the motto "conserve and progress", intend to promote a series of improvements on this unique street in the upper part of the city.

The initiative comes from German businessman Alexander-Philipp Scheffler, current president of the association, which manages the house located at number 30 avenue. He has been the one who has mobilized the neighborhood to create a representative association that acts as a spokesperson for politicians and Barcelona society.

The Association of Residents of Avinguda Tibidabo was born last March, but began to take shape on January 25, in a first founding meeting at the Àbac restaurant, precisely located at number 1 of the avenue, in front of the Tramvia Blau stop, next to Plaza Kennedy.

The association has three main lines of work. The first of them is to recover the Tramvia Blau, one of the oldest in Europe, which this year marks its 123rd anniversary. This tram stopped working in 2018 and, despite the demands of various citizen platforms and political parties, it has not returned to service.

The second function of the association is "to promote improvements aimed at all citizens of Barcelona since this avenue is the natural access to the green lung of Collserola, the Carretera de les Aigües and the Tibidabo amusement park"

Finally, the association wants to enhance the historical and heritage value of the buildings that mark this ascending route to the top of Tibidabo.

“Tibidabo Avenue is a great value for the citizens of Barcelona. "We have gone through many years of inactivity and lack of investment and now we are eager to recover this jewel of the city, as relevant in history as in heritage, and adapt it to the new needs of neighbors, visitors and Barcelona citizens in general," he noted. the president of the entity.

Among the improvements that the association wants to promote are improvements in mobility, lighting, street furniture and, before anything else, "that the Tramvia Blau returns to circulation as soon as possible."

Alexander-Philipp Scheffler explained that they are also studying the recovery of some cultural and sporting activities that took place in this part of the city.

"We will give the avenue back the prominence it deserves in this city. Tibidabo Avenue is a great value for the citizens of Barcelona," adds the president.
