The quadruple somersault of The Flying Caballero wins the Elefant d'Or Festival

The Mexican trapeze artists The Flying Caballero and the Uzbek aerial band couple Duo Disar won last night the Elefants d'Or of the 11th edition of the Girona International Circus Festival.

Apart from the first prize, the Mexican trapeze group The Flying Caballero has also broken a world record during their participation in the festival. In the show last Saturday, and for the first time in history, three trapeze artists did the quadruple somersault during the same show.

For their part, the Uzbek Duo Disar, the other winners of this eleventh edition, who use the power of teeth and hair in their number, were also awarded the critics' prize.

In this edition, the festival organization has set up two international juries of circus professionals made up exclusively of women.

The audience award went to the Colombians from The Flyers Valencia for the number of the double wheel of death, and the Canadian Sabrina Aganier for the image for the aerial circle attraction.

The Festival del Circ de Girona Elefant d'Or has brought together more than 29,000 spectators, in the big tent with capacity for 2,300 people, installed in the Camp de Mart de la Devesa in Girona.

As in previous editions, Genís Matabosch, the soul of this festival and of the circus world, was in charge of presenting the numbers. Last night the ringmaster presented the grand finale, which was held with the 14 finalist numbers, out of the 26 that have participated in this edition.
