Since the Christmas holidays, Badalona has been experiencing a wave of containers that seems to have no stop. The action of the arsonists does not stop and last weekend around twenty cubicles burned which, in the case of Alfons XIII Avenue, caused serious damage to the nearby floors. The PSC has criticized the situation and has accused Albiol of resigning himself to the problem.
The latest episode of container fire seriously affected the façade of a neighborhood community, as reported this Monday by the president of the PSC municipal group, Fernando Carrera. The alleged author of the flames, a repeat arsonist, according to the mayor, was arrested very close to the scene of the incident.
The head of the opposition, in the Badalona City Council, has described the situation as unsustainable. For Carrera, this wave of fires cannot be lived with resignation, just as the mayor of Badalona, Xavier Garcia Albiol, is doing, who in a tweet this weekend, stated that "we will have to wait for the 2,000 to burn." containers that we have in the streets of Badalona".
Carrera considers that these words are not tolerable from a mayor. "If Mr. Albiol does not know what to do with this problem, let him call us. If he wants us to ask other administrations for help, let him call us, but he cannot hide and always blame others for the problems that Badalona suffers, such as cleaning or burning containers".
Badalona suffers the actions of two arsonists, one of whom, a resident of Sant Roc, is serving a prison sentence after accumulating dozens of incidents.
The second individual, a resident of La Salut, works especially in his neighborhood, Llefià and Sant Roc. On Saturday he was arrested and left early in the morning, but almost 45 minutes later another container fire was detected very close to his home.
