The price of gasoline rises and is again more expensive than diesel

Fuel prices give Spaniards good and bad news this week. The price of diesel falls for the first time in a month, 1.26% weekly, but gasoline becomes more expensive (1.06%), according to data compiled in the weekly Oil Bulletin of the European Commission.

Without applying the Government's 20-cent bonus, gasoline is at record levels. It is at an average of 1,897 euros per liter, for the 1,887 euros per liter of diesel. In this way, a trend that has been repeating itself in recent weeks is turned around, that of diesel being more expensive. With the bonus, the prices would be 1,697 and 1,687 euros per liter respectively.

The price could remain stable in the coming weeks since the barrel of Brent, a reference in Europe, remains above 105 dollars per barrel, although it is not the only component to take into account since other factors come into play. such as taxes, logistics or gross margins.

Compared to a year ago, the average price of a liter of gasoline has become 40.5% more expensive, while in the case of diesel it is 56.2% more expensive, although without taking into account the discount currently in force.

The average price of both fuels in Spain remains below the average for the euro zone, where the retail price of a liter of gasoline was set at 2.008 euros per liter and that of diesel at 1.921 euros.

If you look at the whole of Europe in detail, the most expensive gasoline is found in Finland, with 2.25 euros, Denmark, with 2.22 euros per litre, and Greece, with 2.20 euros. With regard to diesel, the highest prices are in Sweden, with 2.25 euros, and Finland (2.24) and Germany (2.04).
