The PP votes against closing a store in Goya that sells Franco products

The PP of the Madrid City Council voted against a bill by Más Madrid and the PSOE to close the La Bodega del Humor store, located in the Madrid district of Salamanca, specifically on Goya Street number 56, which sells products related to Francisco Franco and La Falange.

An extraordinary plenary session was held last Tuesday in the Salamanca district council to urge the Madrid City Council "urgently" to execute the closure of the aforementioned store, which already has a closure decree.

Paradoxically, Vox voted with the left-wing parties. "I voted because, far from ideological positions, the PSOE and Más Madrid asked that the law be complied with," reports a PSOE spokesperson at the Madrid City Council. "This establishment has had a closure order from the City Council for months, not because of the merchandise it sells, but for failing to comply with the rule," the same sources clarify to La Vanguardia.

Regarding said premises, there is a complaint from February 23, 2023 because the store carried out the activity without a qualifying title, so the manager of the Activities Agency ordered the immediate cessation on October 27 of last year. Subsequently, the establishment appealed and in mid-February of this year, the Madrid City Council de facto rejected the appeal due to administrative silence.

Currently, the establishment has been closed since March 27 because there is a lack of supplier authorizations. This is an issue of the Activities Agency, which is in charge of monitoring the documentation of the stores and the legality of the products sold in them.
