The Popular Party will propose in the Congress of Deputies the reform of the Penal Code with the aim of toughening penalties for crimes of multiple recidivism, a reform that has been announced by spokesperson Miguel Tellado, in an event during the 12-M pre-campaign. . The chosen scenario, therefore, is not trivial since the Catalan capital has high numbers of multiple recidivism, there is a broad open social debate to address this problem, with proposals on the table, and the PP thus tries to champion this movement and take it to Congress with a proposed recidivism law.
Tellado, accompanied by candidate Alejandro Fernández, has pointed out that the multiple recidivism in Catalonia “is exaggerated” and has urged the rest of the parties to support this reform in the Lower House. He also recalled that "not only is a parliamentary majority needed to approve it, but also a Government of the Generalitat to apply it." In this scenario of denouncing insecurity in Catalonia, Fernández has defended the presence of the Police and the Civil Guard, understanding that the objective of the pro-independence parties is to "throw them out."
