The photographic attraction of Vilada

I show in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia photographs of Vilada, a beautiful and quiet town in Berguedà, perfect for a photographic excursion.

You can get beautiful images of mountain landscapes and traditional stone and wood constructions.

It is a municipality with a population of around 500 inhabitants. The name Vilada dates back to the 9th century and translates as "wide town".

As for the name, although the appropriate name in Catalan would be "viladí" or "viladina", this can cause confusion with the residents of a neighborhood in the capital of the region, Berga, called "Viladins". Therefore, the inhabitants of Vilada are simply referred to as "de Vilada".

Vilada is located on both sides of the Llobregat river, which is interrupted by the Baells reservoir. The town itself is centered around the parish church of Sant Joan. And the remains of his old castle can be seen on a hill below the Picamill range.

The surroundings of Vilada are characterized by forests and strawberry fields, as well as a wide variety of mushrooms, which are abundant in the Berguedà region.

The lush forests and streams around Vilada make it an ideal place for hiking. In addition, the Baells reservoir is a popular attraction for swimming, fishing and water sports.
