The opposition warns of the "slowdown" in employment, housing, sustainability and transportation policies

Once the budgets of Carlos Mazón's Consell are known, the reactions have begun. The deputy spokesperson for the PSPV, Arcadi España, has described them as a "stoppage" in employment, housing, climate change or tourism policies. "They are the first budgets in eight years that stop employment policies and change in the productive model because they remove 360 million euros for training of the unemployed, and reduction in the promotion of tourism or research."

Spain has criticized that these budgets slow down social policies for young people, because "housing policies are reduced by 15% and policies to promote public transport are reduced by 70 million euros." "Climate denialism has also been transferred to the budgets," highlighted Spain, which has criticized the reduction in policies to "protect the environment and have higher quality water and invest in much-needed infrastructure" by 423 million euros.

"These budgets from the right and the extreme right mark a before and after, they are budgets that forget the middle classes and workers, lowering investment in housing, public transport and innovation."

For its part, the Valencian Business Confederation, CEV, values the principles on which the GVA budget project for 2024 is based, among which "the realism and rigor in the allocation of the items, as well as its will of execution".

"These principles, together with the implementation of improvements in management, provide certainty to economic agents who, ultimately, are the taxpayers on the part of the income and the recipients of the services on the part of the expenses."

The CEV also values the strengthening of fundamental public services, on the one hand, and tax relief for the less fortunate, on the other. Together they will contribute to sustaining social well-being in a context of economic slowdown.

For their part, the Valencian Chambers of Commerce have positively valued the "realistic approach" of budgets that they call "coherent with the current economic-financial situation" of the Valencian Community.

For the Chambers of the Valencian Community, "it is not so much about increasing spending, but rather about effectively managing the resources available in an efficient way, prioritizing productive investments that can generate employment and wealth." In this sense, the Chambers consider that "the Valencian Government has made an effort to eliminate spending and optimize resources, carrying out measures that will reactivate the economy such as the tax reduction that will benefit SMEs and families."
