The Mossos d'Esquadra arrest the tenor Albert Deprius in Calella for abusing a minor

The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested the tenor Albert Deprius on Monday, accused of abusing a minor, his student, between 2010 and 2014, according to the Ara. The young woman, who was then between 14 and 18 years old, ended up denouncing him last November. The musician is accused of crimes of sexual assault, harassment and contact with minors through social networks.

After the arrest, it is expected that on Tuesday he will go to court in the Courts of Arenys de Mar (Maresme). Deprius is a collaborator of the Can Salom music school in Calella (Maresme); director of Cor Harmonia, and artistic director, also in Calella, of the Lyrical Season and the Canta al Mar International Festival. The City Council, upon hearing the news, has suspended relations with the musician.

At least a second victim also reported him in July and a third woman did so in 2016. However, the case was reportedly resolved with an out-of-court agreement. The Mossos do not confirm this point for now and affirm that the investigation is still open after the last complaint, which is the one that has unleashed the arrest.

Deprius studied at the Liceo Higher Conservatory of Music and has participated in lyrical shows, operas and zarzuelas around the world. In addition to the Palacio de la Música, the Gran Teatro del Liceo or the Barcelona Auditorium, Deprius has also passed through renowned venues in Spain, France, Italy, Russia, Panama, Colombia or Cuba.
