The Montserrat Zipper in miniature

I have prepared this photographic report for Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia in the discrete museum Exposició del Cremallera de Montserrat.

Located in the old Monistrol-Vila del Cremallera station, upon entering, it gave me the sensation of entering Geppetto's workshop. There is a whole room full of mechanical contraptions: rack trains, locomotives, carriages, aerial baskets. Everything in motion. A very ambitious replica of the Zipper era.

The faithful reproduction of the journey with the machines and strollers in motion with passengers included is a real gift for sensations.

It is almost never open because of the little publicity they give it. Write down in your diary for next year, you have time, the last weekend of October, which coincides with the Monistrol coca and killed festival, to visit it for free.

The photographs do not do justice to the true spirit of this small museum. The history of the rack railway that connects Monistrol with the Montserrat mountain and the monastery dates back to the end of the 19th century.

You have to see it and learn, by the way, a little about transport technology, which still persists. The exhibition has been nourished by the contributions of the Associació d'Amics del Cremallera i Funiculars de Montserrat.
