In this series of photographs taken for Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia we can contemplate the Puigmal from the Collet de les Barraques, in the Ripollès, but the abundance of the plant Aconitum napellus, the common aconite, anapelo azul or matalobos, is striking de flor azul (in Catalan, blue tora).

In the Collet de les Barraques area, this plant proliferates and it is better not to touch it, because it is very poisonous and can be fatal. And that his appearance is very attractive.

The flowers are large and showy, blue or purple in color, three to four cm in diameter. It is not surprising that it abounds in this area of the Pyrenees, as it grows in mountainous areas up to 2,000 meters above sea level.

It is mostly found next to watercourses and especially in forests, in humid and shady places. The trees around the Collet de les Barraques give shelter to this plant, as beautiful as it is lethal.

The high toxicity of the wolfsbane plant poses a risk even in minimal amounts due to its powerful cardiotoxic and neurotoxic effects.

For its part, Puigmal, in Alta Cerdanya, is the second highest mountain in the province of Girona, with 2914 meters, and is located on the border between Spain and France.
