The leader of a sect arrested for supplying "purified mercury" to his followers

The National Police have arrested in Albanilla (Murcia) the leader of a spiritual community that allegedly used coercive manipulation techniques and the supply of dangerous substances, including "purified mercury", to control its followers for economic and power purposes. As reported by the Police this Wednesday, the investigation began thanks to citizen collaboration through an email sent to the Information Brigade, which reported on the irregular activities that were being carried out in the complex.

The complex occupied by the group, with an area of more than 100,000 square meters, was made up of a multitude of cave houses, hostels, temples and clandestine laboratories. Almost 200 kilograms of mercury were seized inside, which the leader, known as 'Total Transcendence', allegedly used to make elixirs.

According to researchers, during community ceremonies psychoactive substances were distributed to subdue the will of those attending. The leader has been brought to justice and his imprisonment has been ordered.

The group was financed by donations and payments from those attending its activities, as well as by the sale of "elixirs" that they made in an industrial warehouse in Lorquí (Murcia).

The spiritual leader resided for much of the year in one of the caves that housed the laboratories where he carried out alchemy practices, helped by his closest followers. Some of them showed symptoms due to the neurotoxicity of mercury. Furthermore, the toxic waste from these practices would have been dumped into a community septic tank, posing a serious environmental danger.

The operation, coordinated by the General Information Commissariat and executed by the Provincial Information Brigade of Murcia, has required the collaboration of other units such as the Air Unit, the Technical Interventions Operational Group or the Canine Unit.
