The "kidnapped" baby Jesus appears in a container and two young people are arrested

The figure of the baby Jesus "kidnapped" in Sant Vicent del Raspeig (Alicante) appeared this Sunday night in a container. And the alleged perpetrators of the incident, who asked for a ransom of two thousand euros through TikTopk, have been arrested, according to the Alicante City Council. The figure has been returned to the nativity scene.

The two young people now arrested, aged 19 and 21, are residents of the town, and yesterday Sunday, through the social network TikTok, they claimed responsibility for the theft of the figure of the baby Jesus installed in a municipal nativity scene in the university town bordering the capital of the province, and asked for 2,000 euros for his ransom.

According to the statement sent this morning by the City Council, the detainees have acknowledged responsibility for the events in their statements at the police station. Both have been brought to justice.

The nativity scene is located in a garden between Pintor Sorolla and Lillo Juan streets and in the video you can see how one of the young people steals the figure and puts it in the trunk of a vehicle. Subsequently, the young people, with distorted voices and hooded, made an appeal to the Local Police of Sant Vicent requesting payment of 2,000 euros for the ransom, under the threat that they would harm the figure.

In the video, the authors posed with the baby Jesus, who they surround with bills, and reproach the San Vicente Local Police for not taking good care of him.

The mayor of Sant Vicent del Raspeig, Pachi Pascual, has confirmed that the figure was found at 8 pm yesterday next to a container located in the vicinity of the place where the nativity scene was installed. Apparently, the figure is in good condition, so it has been replaced in its place.
