The Board of Directors of RTVE meets this Wednesday to discuss the audiovisual projects of public television and possibly again the controversial signing of David Broncano, which has so far led to the dismissal of the Content Director and Elena Sánchez, as president.
Sources from the Board of Directors have told EFE that the meeting is scheduled for this Wednesday morning and that, in addition to the hiring of a program like Movistar's La Resistencia, the hiring of Arturo Valls with the program could also be voted on. At the meeting, the new president of RTVE, Concepción Cascajosa, could bring a consensus proposal on the hiring of Broncano to be voted on, but it seems difficult to contemplate that possibility given the opposing positions of the previous Council on the 4th.
That day, when there were eight councilors (Elena Sánchez did not attend for medical reasons), Cascajosa suspended the meeting when it was time to address the audiovisual projects due to the "legal uncertainty" that he considered could occur if he had to use the casting vote in case of tie. When in doubt, she decided to suspend it and request reports on the matter from the State Attorney's Office and the SEPI, which she could report on at the Council on April 10.
However, some Council sources believe that this allegation could have been "a pretext" to suspend the Council because such a tie was not going to occur, so they would not have to use that casting vote.
The proposal that Cascajosa was going to raise last week was the same one that was not taken into account in the Council on March 26 and that the former Content Director José Pablo López was going to defend, but he could not do so when he was fired.
A two-year contract at 14 million per season and the second could be canceled if in six months a screen share of 7.5% was not reached, according to other sources from the same management body of the Corporation.
This type of contract could have the support, in addition to Cascajosa, of the counselor proposed by the PSOE Ramón Colom, the one corresponding to the PNV, Juan José Baños, and that of a quarter of Unidas Podemos, Roberto Lakidaín, if its meaning is taken into account. of voting of the last meetings. In front would be the three PP councilors (Consuelo Aparicio, Jenaro Castro and Carmen Sastre).
Less defined would be the votes of counselor José Manuel Martín Medem (elected at the time at the proposal of Unidas Podemos, but linked to the PCE, today integrated into Sumar) and Elena Sánchez.
However, according to the same sources, Martín Medem seems to not like the duration - he would prefer it to be a year -, but also the fact that the participation of TVE's technical and professional media in the program is not contemplated, that is, the model of co-production. He could abstain, as he has done in the last votes.
In the same way, former president Elena Sánchez could speak out, who also seems to be leaning towards a one-year contract, but extendable to two as long as in the first year she achieves an audience higher than the current average of the network in the time slot in which which would be broadcast to compete with El Hormiguero by Pablo Motos.
From Monday to Thursday, and since January 1 of this year, the average audience of TVE's La 1 in the ten to eleven pm slot is close to 1.3 million viewers and a screen share of 9 ,5 %. From eleven to twelve at night it is 1.1 million and a share of 10.7%, according to data provided to EFE by Barlovento.
