The interior of Andalusia will touch 46 degrees in this new heat wave

The heat does not give a truce to Andalusia, which is already immersed in a new wave, the fourth since the beginning of the summer, where it could reach up to 46 degrees, as indicated by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) in points of Jaén and Cordova. Wednesday will be the critical day, where the mercury will exceed 40 degrees in most of the community. Only in the coastal area will there be a slightly milder temperature, although almost entirely exceeding 30 degrees.

The night temperatures will not help to stifle the daytime heat either, since they are not expected to drop below 22-24 degrees, a situation that will last until the end of the week. The situation is expected to improve for Saturday and Sunday, although Aemet has already announced that in mid-August the mercury will settle between 38 and 39 degrees.

This was explained to Europa Press by the territorial delegate of the Aemet in Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla, Juan de Dios del Pino, who has detailed that this episode of high temperatures, "which has the characteristics of a possible heat wave", is motivated by "a center of high pressure in Morocco and a center of low pressure off the Portuguese coast", which causes "a corridor" to form between them, which is "through which the mass of hot air of African origin enters". , has qualified

This mass of hot air will enter through the Guadalquivir Valley and will gradually rise up the peninsula, with the provinces of western Andalusia being the first to be affected, he argued while pointing out the presence of haze between Monday and Tuesday in the western area. of the region, and as of Wednesday in the eastern part of it.

Regarding the maximum, Del Pino has indicated that Wednesday will be the hottest day of the week. Specifically, Córdoba and Jaén will register the highest temperatures, 45 degrees, respectively, followed by Granada, with 43 degrees; Seville, with 40º; Almería and Málaga, with 32 degrees, both; Huelva, with 30 degrees; and, finally, Cádiz, where the thermometers will register a maximum of 29º.

With regard to night temperatures, the person in charge of Aemet in Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla has highlighted that "it will also be high", and "they will not drop below 22-23 degrees, and even 24 degrees".

Likewise, Del Pino has explained that the episode of high temperatures will last until Friday, and it will not be until the weekend when there is a drop in thermometers. "We will drop below 40 degrees, but we will continue to have high temperatures on Saturday and Sunday as well, around 38-39 degrees Celsius," he highlighted.

Extreme precautions. It is the message that Juanma Moreno, president of the Junta de Andalucía, has wanted to convey to the public through her social networks. And it is that the heat, together with the lack of rainfall this year, make the region very vulnerable to fires, such as the one that has occurred in Puerto Real (Cádiz) and against which the Infoca Plan continues to fight to extinguish it .

"I ask for prudence to avoid serious fires, please," emphasizes Moreno, who points out that the firefighters continue to work on other fires, such as in Bonares (Huelva) and "wherever they are needed."

On the other hand, the person in charge of the Aemet in Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla, after a balance carried out by the agency on the temperatures registered during the month of July, has affirmed that "it has been the fourth hottest month in the historical series since 1961, and the fifth month in terms of maximum temperatures recorded". This was indicated by Del Pino, who also added that "2015 was the hottest year of all".

In this context, he has highlighted two anomalies that have taken place during this month of July, and that is that the temperature "has been 1.3 degrees above the average registered in the months of July for the last 30 years ( since 1991)".

On the other hand, if we look at the climate of the 60s, 70s and 80s, "this recorded average temperature is 2.5 degrees above", which is a "very high" value, and here "we can talk of climate change", concluded Del Pino.
