The incredible corridors of Flanders dels Casots

The Flandes dels Casots, in Subirats (Alt Penedès), are, from a geological point of view, a marvel. Technically, they are a rather peculiar example of external geodynamics.

As seen in La Vanguardia Readers' Photos, they are blocks of cracked limestone, formed by the detachment of a compact rock located near the core of Els Casots.

The action of several natural erosive agents, such as the force of the wind, water and the roots of trees attached to the rocks, have formed several corridors and tunnels, with capricious shapes of singular beauty, as highlighted by the information on the place provided by the Barcelona Provincial Council.

According to the ecological and naturalist association ADENC, "the Flandes dels Casots constitute a unique area formed by a formidable amphitheater of vineyards, elevated on a large vertical wall of limestone rock, more than 12 meters high." "Rainwater filters through the vineyards and, over time, has produced spectacular rock falls," they detail.

Furthermore, when walking along the track between the Can Vidal and Can Ros farmhouses, you can enjoy an excellent panoramic view with Montserrat in the background.
