The heat will put Andalusia, Madrid, Castilla-La Mancha, Valencia and the Canary Islands at risk

A dozen provinces of Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, the Valencian Community, Madrid and the Canary Islands will be at risk (yellow) or significant risk (orange) this Sunday, July 30, due to heat, with temperatures of up to 40ºC, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

Specifically, the high temperatures will put Córdoba and Jaén on orange notice, and Granada, Huelva, Málaga, Seville, Albacete, Cuenca, Madrid, Valencia and Gran Canaria (Las Palmas) in yellow.

It is expected that this Sunday the maximum temperatures will drop in the northeast of the peninsula and increase in the west, Alborán and the midlands of the Canary Islands, while they will exceed 34-36ºC in the southern interior half, even 38-40ºC in the Guadalquivir and Malaga.

The minimums, for their part, will descend in the northern third, will increase in Andalusia and will not drop below 24-26ºC on the eastern Mediterranean coasts.

Likewise, in a large part of the country slightly cloudy skies will predominate, although in the north of Galicia and in the Cantabrian area cloudy skies are expected, with possible precipitation, more likely in the central and eastern Cantabrian Sea, remitting on the coasts and remaining only isolated in inside in the afternoon.

In addition, evolutionary clouds will form in the interior of the eastern third, with probable showers in the Pyrenees and eastern Iberia, without ruling out a dry storm in the southeast interior. Low morning clouds are also forecast in other areas of the northern third and eastern Mediterranean area, with some occasional isolated rainfall in Levante and Tarragona.

In the Canary Islands, intervals of low clouds are forecast in the north of the islands and, in the afternoon, evolutionary cloudiness in the interior of Tenerife. Calimas are also expected in the Canary Islands, as in Melilla, the Balearic Islands and the southeast of the Peninsula.

Likewise, scattered morning mists are not ruled out in inland areas of Galicia and in the upper Ebro, Pyrenees, eastern Iberia, inland areas of the Valencian Community and Cádiz, nor coastal mists on the coast of Mediterranean Andalusia.

For this Sunday, winds from the north are also expected in the northern third, west in the Strait and trade winds in the Canary Islands, which will have Gran Canaria (Las Palmas) and Tenerife (Santa Cruz de Tenerife) on yellow alert due to waves.

In the rest, light winds are expected in general, with the western component predominating on the Atlantic slope and the eastern one in the Mediterranean area.
