The Goya gala will be held in Valladolid in 2024

The 38th edition of the Goya Awards will be held in Valladolid, as announced this Thursday at a press conference by the president of the Film Academy, Fernando Méndez Leite. He has also stated that in 2025 the prizes will travel to Granada.

Valladolid thus takes over from the city of Seville, which hosted the last edition of these film awards on February 11, traveling since 2019. This will be the seventh time in history that the Goyas have left the capital. In the last five years they have been held twice in Seville (2019 and 2023), Malaga also repeated the celebration (2020 and 2021) and Valencia (2022), while the first time was in Barcelona (2000).

Méndez Leite has explained that the decision has been made by the board of directors of the Film Academy based on the proposals presented, among which Madrid was not.

The mayor of Valladolid, Óscar Puente, has assured at the headquarters of the Academy that his city had been presenting its candidacy for three years. "Not only do we hope to live up to it, but we are going to put on the best Goya gala in history."
