Last minute surprise. In the latest extension of the Royal Decree-Law on anti-crisis measures approved this Tuesday by the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Social Rights and the 2030 Agenda has included the permits contemplated in the family law prepared by Ione Belarra's team and was left unfinished its processing for the electoral advance.
Thus, this decree includes a care leave of 5 days a year, paid, which can be used in the event of a serious accident or illness, hospitalization or surgical intervention without hospitalization that requires rest, both for a relative of up to 2nd degree and for a cohabitant (something new so far).
In addition, a second permit "due to force majeure" is approved, which will be distributed by hours and may reach a total of up to 4 days a year. This is a novel leave that will also be paid and seeks to allow fathers and mothers to be absent from work when there are urgent family reasons.
And a third parental leave of 8 weeks, which may be enjoyed continuously or discontinuously, full or part time, until the minor turns 8 years old.
These permits were within the wording of the text of the Family Law of the Ministry of Ione Belarra, whose processing was interrupted due to the advancement of the electoral call.
Likewise, the Ministry of Social Rights and the 2030 Agenda has incorporated into the royal decree that unmarried couples have the right to 15 days of leave for registration, the same as marriages, something that was also contemplated in the Belarra Family Law
