The Generalitat Valenciana will offer contracts of one to three to years to the MIRs starting in 2025

The president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, announced this Saturday that “from 2025, the Generalitat will offer contracts of one to three to years to resident doctors (MIR) who complete their training period in the health centers of the Valencian Community. ”.

According to the head of the Consell, this is a measure that the Valencian Government will implement "to promote the attraction and loyalty of the MIR", aimed not only at alleviating the deficit of health professionals that affects the entire national territory. , but also to “incentivize and motivate professionals to remain in the Valencian health system.”

Carlos Mazón has highlighted the Consell's commitment to an “effective incentive policy” to maintain and welcome new doctors in our territory and “guarantee quality public healthcare.”

In this sense, he has made reference to the “elimination of the language barrier for doctors in our Community” as “another example of the will of this Consell to have the best health professionals to take care of the health of Castellón, Valencians and Alicante residents. ”.

Increase in places

The president has also demanded from the Government of Spain "the need to make the rigid criteria for accreditation of training places more flexible in order to be able to increase the offer in the coming years" given the existing lack of specialists.

In this sense, he pointed out that the Ministry "must be consistent with the current situation of lack of professionals, especially in Primary Care, and promote solutions so that the Autonomous Communities can respond to real healthcare needs instead of standing in their way."

Carlos Mazón has regretted the attitude of the Government of Spain "of not addressing the demand for more MIR places." Thus, he recalled that the Ministry of Health has repeatedly requested the Ministry to expand one thousand annual training places in the specialty of family and community medicine at a national level in the next four years, hence the need to make the criteria for accreditation for training.

During this year, the Generalitat offers a total of 844 positions for resident doctors of different specialties to carry out their training in the health centers of the Valencian Community, of which 232 are in family and community medicine.

In total, the Generalitat's offer of specialized health training places for 2024 amounts to 1,099 places, which represents an increase of 5.27% more places compared to the previous year, in which 1,044 places were offered.

In this sense, on April 5, future health professionals will be able to choose their specialty and destination, so that in the month of May they will be able to begin their training period.
