The Generalitat postpones the eight new trains a day between Lleida and Cervera

The eight new trains that were going to run from Monday to Friday starting today on the Manresa railway line (R12) between Lleida and Cervera, four in each direction, adding to the six that make this route, will have to wait a few days. The Conselleria de Territori announces that the commissioning "has been postponed, and now work is being done to ensure that it can be done as soon as possible, at most this first fortnight of February."

On January 26, Territori announced the launch of the trains, noting that after the meeting in Madrid in September Renfe agreed to double the train services between Lleida and Cervera "and the agreement for the comprehensive transfer of Rodalies." "In addition, it specified that the cost, of around 2.5 million euros per year in this first phase, would be paid by the State." The department considers that in this way “the agreements reached between the Minister of Territory, Ester Capella, and the Minister of Transport, Raquel Sánchez, first, and the current minister, Óscar Puente, later were fulfilled.”

For its part, the Ministry of Transport assures that the important thing is to sign the contract for this service, agreed between Renfe and the Generalitat. “From there, indicating the start date will depend on the Generalitat when contracting the service.” “In any case – he adds – what is important and what we are working for is so that citizens have more frequencies.” Sources familiar with the negotiation affirm that technical issues remain pending. If closed today, the trains will begin to run on the 8th.
