The former mayor of Colmenar Viejo and PP deputy in Madrid dies in a car accident

Jorge García Díaz, former mayor of Colmenar Viejo and deputy of the Madrid Assembly (PP), has died at the age of 43 in a traffic accident recorded at 8:05 a.m. this Thursday when the former mayor was returning to his home on the highway. The passengers of the second vehicle involved, all members of the same family, have suffered injuries of varying severity in an accident whose causes are being investigated by the Civil Guard.

The woman, 40 years old and pregnant, has suffered trauma to the chest and pelvis, and the man, 38, trauma to the knee and elbow. One of the children, aged 10, has suffered erosions caused by the belt, while the other, aged 14, has fractured his collarbone. All have been stabilized and transferred with a potentially serious prognosis to La Paz Hospital.

Born on February 26, 1980, García Díaz was a councilor of Colmenar Viejo from 2001 to 2016, the year in which he was sworn in as mayor of the town, a position in which he has held until 2023.

In the regional elections last May he was elected deputy of the Assembly in the ranks of the PP.
