The father of Mery Perelló, father-in-law of Rafa Nadal, dies at the age of 63

Xisca Perelló's father, Miquel Perelló, and father-in-law of tennis champion Rafa Nadal, died at the age of 63 this Thursday in Manacor, as revealed by the Mallorcan newspaper Última hora. The businessman, dedicated to the construction sector, has died after a long illness. Miquel Perelló was a well-known and much-loved person on the Balearic island, as was his wife, María Pascual, and his only daughter, Mery Perelló, who made him a grandfather for the first time last October.

This Mallorcan businessman stood out for his discretion despite his son-in-law's fame and he always stayed away from the spotlight despite Nadal's public projection. This Friday his loved ones are watching over the mortal remains of the deceased, and an intimate funeral in memory of Miquel Perelló is also scheduled to be held today in the town of Manacor.

The news is a severe blow to the family, who has always wanted to take maximum care of their privacy and has hardly been seen at the major sporting events in which his son-in-law, Rafael Nadal, has taken part. According to some chronicles, Miquel Perelló knew how to develop a considerable real estate heritage. He learned the construction trade from his father, also famous in the area for being in charge of the rehabilitation, among others, of the Torre dels Enagistes.

This sad news comes after Miquel became a first-time grandfather last October. Rafael, the eldest son of Rafa Nadal and Xisca Perelló, was born at the Quironsalud de Palmaplanas medical center in Palma de Mallorca. The baby came into the world at week 37 of gestation and did so in perfect condition, despite the previous complications that his mother had. A few months earlier, in August, Perelló was admitted to the same private clinic for some complication coinciding with the 31st week of her pregnancy.

Rafael Nadal and María Francisca Perelló got married on October 19, 2019. The link was held within the walls of Sa Fortalesa, a dream castle located in the north of Mallorca. After fourteen years together, Rafa and Mery said "yes, I do!" thus culminating a love story that began in 2005 and that the two protagonists have always carried out with the utmost discretion.
