The family of the girl assaulted in the Mágic leaves Badalona to go to Baix Llobregat

The family of the 11-year-old girl who suffered a sexual assault in the Màgic shopping center in Badalona will leave the city between this week and next to move to a municipality in the Baix Llobregat region, according to municipal sources.

The social services of the Badalona City Council are helping the parents of the girl, of Ghanaian origin, to be able to do all the paperwork and facilitate her transfer to another city.

Those affected by this case of sexual violence do not want to meet the families of the aggressors, who are all now free, as explained by the mayor Rubén Guijarro and the councilor of Drets Socials David Torrents.

Although the family, made up of five members, has not been declared vulnerable, it is immersed in an eviction process. Given their particular situation, after a negotiation with Sareb they have been able to relocate to an apartment in Baix Llobregat.

The Department of Education has already started a new schooling process for the family's two young children, the girl affected by the sexual assault and her brother, who received death threats from people close to the alleged rapists. The third sister, a university student, is already emancipated.

The families of the six aggressors, all of them unstructured, do not respond to the requirements of the City Council or Badalona Social Services, preventing any type of action with the children, the same sources have explained.

On the other hand, the psychologists from Can Ruti who have been working on this case recommend "not re-victimizing" the girl by constantly talking about the case. However, this protocol is in contradiction with the process opened by the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office, which has stipulated that the young woman has to testify again next June and relive the events.

The representatives of the Badalona consistory have been critical of the actions of the Dgaia and the Office of the Prosecutor for Minors. They believe that if they had been notified earlier, they could have activated the municipal protocols more quickly.
