The family business comes out in defense of Ferrovial and asks the Government for "respect and dialogue"

The Family Business Institute (IEF) and the eighteen territorial associations that form it have come out today in defense of Ferrovial asking the Government for "a climate of respect to work for the prosperity of Spain". Although they have not cited Ferrovial or his transfer to the Netherlands, in a statement the family businessmen have indicated that "we ask the Government to avoid disqualifying companies and businessmen for decisions adopted in the legitimate exercise of their business freedom. It is essential to rebuild a climate of respect and constructive dialogue that allows the consolidation and development of our companies, to contribute to the prosperity and well-being of our society”.

The IEF chaired by Andrés Sendagorta and which represents 1,500 family businesses has recalled that "the need to empower and support family businesswomen represents an obligation of all levels of society, because they constitute an irreplaceable part of the social and democratic fabric of Spain".

In the statement they state that family businesses "have enthusiastically contributed to the modernization and prosperity of democratic Spain".

In a statement, the 18 territorial associations and the Family Business Institute have reiterated their willingness to dialogue with the representatives of the democratic institutions to continue working positively for the prosperity and modernity of Spain: "we ask that reflection and rigorous analysis when defining measures that affect our activity. That, when legislating, unfavorable competitive barriers are not created with respect to those that exist in other countries around us”.

Relations between the IEF and the Government are tense after the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has declined to participate in the institution's annual Congress in recent years.
