The Electoral Board allows Macarena Olona to stand for the Andalusian elections

Macarena Olona will continue to be a candidate for Vox to preside over the Andalusian Government in the next elections on 19-J. After the controversy caused by the registration of her in the Granada town of Salobreña, for which Andaluces Levantaos filed an appeal before the Electoral Board considering it "fictitious", today it has been this same body that has cleared all doubts. The Board "does not find any legal obstacle to the proclamation of the challenged candidacy" which has led it to reject "the request for its annulment" from the legal representative of the left-wing formation.

Vox Andalusia gains momentum again in the face of this victory, a war that has served to charge during the last days against PP and PSOE, which they already blamed for these "hoaxes" because "they are terrified" by the presence of the Alicante in this race towards San Telmo, as Olona herself pointed out a few days ago.

In this sense, the leader of the national party, Santiago Abascal, has spoken: "So far the first attempt by popular and socialists to silence Vox's message has come", he posted on twitter, a message that has had a prompt response: "Forward , without fear of anyone or anyone ”, the already recognized resident of Salobreña responded from her profile on the same social network.

There will therefore be no changes in the lists by the ultranationalists, who continue to see the controversial deputy for Granada in the Congress of Deputies as the winning horse of these elections. "The polls smell like fear, a lot of fear," the candidate insisted in a video published today, because "the force of making real change is unstoppable."

In the resolution released by the Electoral Board, it is stated that it cannot rule differently because "it would compromise constitutionally recognized guarantees such as the principle of legality, legal certainty and the prohibition of arbitrariness, as well as suppose the violation of the aforementioned right equal access to public functions and positions.

Throughout the text issued in response to the appeal filed by Andaluces Levantaos on May 18, it is stated that the registration of Macarena Olona "is a firm administrative act, as is her inclusion in the lists of the Electoral Census in force for the present electoral process”, indicating that the interested party presented the necessary documentation to be registered in the register. Likewise, it indicates that, despite the fact that the Municipal Council has initiated the procedures for ex officio removal, this process “would not have retroactive effects with respect to the validity of the registration for the purposes of the proclamation of the candidate.

Let's remember that Olona has been in this registry since last November, being mandatory to be registered in an Andalusian municipality two months before the elections are called.

The opinion of the Board will not remain so. They have announced it from Andaluces Levantaos, a party that plans to appeal its decision insisting that there is "sufficiently justified cause" to annul it due to an alleged fictitious registration in the municipality of Salobreña.

It has been Modesto González, the leader of the formation, who has pointed out that they will study "in depth" the agreement reached by the body and that today they will file a new appeal. "We are convinced that we are right and we are going to go to the last appropriate instance, to cancel the candidacy of a person who tries to laugh at the Andalusians," he warned.

The electoral law in Andalusia, unlike the national one, makes it clear that any candidate must reside in the region in order to be eligible for the Junta de Andalucía. In fact, Olona is a deputy in Congress for Granada, where this requirement does not exist, however, it is the origin of this controversy in the Andalusian elections. It was this matter that led to the Salobreña City Council, after the complaint by Andaluces Levantaos, which motivated it to investigate if the ultra-nationalist really lived in the town.

The Local Police went to the address that appears in their registry, and which is really the home of the president of Vox in Granada, without finding her at home. This situation caused the town hall to begin the process of removing the Alicante woman from her census, which could have motivated his expulsion from the electoral race.
