The dog that attacked this Tuesday in the Cartagena district of Los Barreros two young people, who are sisters and are 20 and 21 years old, is property of the family and had first injured the father, who had left the house precisely to go to receive assistance healthcare in a health center.

The young women had bites all over their bodies, on their arms, back and buttocks, and were discharged from the Santa Lucía University General Hospital in Cartagena after being treated by the Emergency Service.

The Councilor for Health of the Cartagena City Council, Gonzalo López Pretel, explained this Wednesday that the young women told the Local Police that the dog "had initially attacked the father, who tied him up to go get treated, but the animal again broke the ties and attacked them.”

López Petrel has indicated that the animal, a cross between another breed with an American Staffordshire, is in custody at the Domestic Animal Shelter and Treatment Center (CATAD) in Cartagena.

The staff of this City Council service picked up the dog, which had left the house, an apartment, and was on one of the landings of the building, located on Lope de Vega street in Los Barreros. The council is also studying whether the necessary license to own dangerous dogs is in order.

According to the Emergency Coordination Center of the Region of Murcia, a call to 1-1-2 at 10:53 p.m. reported that screams could be heard in a doorway and that there was a lot of blood on the floor. The informant did not provide more information.

The Local Police of Cartagena went to the scene and verified that a dog had attacked two young people, aged 20 and 21, who had bites all over their bodies, on their arms, back and buttocks.

This attack takes place just a month and a half after the death of a 96-year-old woman from Alguazas who suffered bites from two of her neighbors' dogs.
