The day when sun and moon come together more

Yesterday, Sunday was the day when the sun and the moon, one hour apart, set in the same place. And I couldn't resist capturing these images for La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos of this sunset, recording this accelerated video from the town of Altet, in the Urgell region.

It could be said, then, that this could be the day of the year when the sun and the moon are most intertwined. A sun that shines as always, but a waning moon that, despite the sun showing a thread of light, continues to be the protagonist of the night.

When the illuminated part of the moon is seen in the shape of a "C" it is waning, as seen in these photographs. When seen as a "D" it is increasing.

The waning moon is one of the four lunar phases that occur monthly, and along with the waxing moon and the full moon, which can be seen if the sky is clear.

The waning moon is the interval between the full moon and the new moon. Normally, this is referred to as the last quarter phase.
