The artist Magalí Sare lands in Barcelona tomorrow to present her second album as a composer, entitled Esponja. The singer will offer a concert this Saturday at the Petit Palau of the Palau de la Música in Barcelona (9pm), as part of the Strenes Festival, which this year has extended beyond Girona for the first time and is holding three concerts in the Catalan capital.
Magalí Sare's career includes being part of the Mèlt Quartet, the quartet of a cappella voices that participated in the Oh Happy Day television contest, being the lead singer of Clara Peya's Estómac album and being the voice of the ad. by Estrella Damm in 2020. In 2018, the artist released Cançons d'amor i dimonis, her first solo album and, in 2020, two duets: A boy and a girl, with guitarist Sebastià Gris, and Fang i núvols, with double bassist Manel Fortià.
In her latest work, Esponja, the musician reflects on the creation of one's own personality and emphasizes the stages of life that most define our character. According to the artist, these are childhood and adolescence, tender times, convulsive and full of changes.
The main inspiration for the composition of this album has been the women of her family: her mother, her sister, her niece and herself. The album, which was recorded between Banyoles, Centelles, Cornellà del Terri and Barcelona, also includes a song by her brother.
Sponge has two relevant collaborations. The first is Semper vens assim, with Salvador Sobral. The theme, published in February, is inspired by the major festivals. On the other hand, in the song ETC. the singer has collaborated with the group Las Migas, which has given her a flamenco touch. On a musical level, the album is a journey through Mediterranean pop with folk and experimental touches.
