The communes ask to be at the dialogue table with the State if Aragonés opens it to parties

The leader of En Comú Podemos in Parliament, Jéssica Albiach, believes that the communes should be at the dialogue table with the State if finally the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, opens it up to the parties, and sees it as something "normal " being able to be like that "on both sides of the table".

"Until now we have seen that the dialogue table has been between governments, and I have to say that for me it was already good, but it is true that we have heard President Pere Aragonès say that it opened the possibility of there being parties on the Catalan side" , Albiach highlighted in an interview with EFE.

The president of the commons group in the Parliament recalled that Aragonès, when reaching out to other parties to participate with his Government at the dialogue table, "first spoke about Junts, then he spoke about pro-independence parties in general and then also referred to the commons".

"Although I have to admit that I have not received any formal proposal from Aragonès, I believe that if the table is opened to the parties it cannot be only to the independentists, obviously the common people should be here," he remarked.

Every time the commons have formulated a proposal to resolve the Catalan conflict, Albiach has highlighted, the idea "has ended up being assumed, for example regarding the dejudicialization of the conflict with pardons, then the 'via Asens' with the elimination of sedition and, now, with the amnesty".

"Therefore, the fact of being at the dialogue table, if it is opened to the parties, would be a guarantee that there will be proposals acceptable to both parties, in addition to the fact that we are a party with a vocation for government and we aspire, after the Catalan elections, to be part of the Government", he stressed.

Albiach has been convinced that the presence of the commons in the Catalan part of the dialogue table between the Generalitat and the State Government "would make it easier to reach solutions."

According to the leader of the commons, the fact of having a minister from her party in the current Government, such as Ernest Urtasun, demonstrates the desire to transform Catalonia and also the State, so the commons can assume "with absolute normality to be on both sides of the table."

In his opinion, "if the dialogue table were not finally opened to the parties, it would be essential" for Aragonès to convene the Catalan party table, because "he cannot forget that he is in an absolute minority."

The next meeting of the dialogue and negotiation table between the Generalitat and the State Government will take place during the first quarter of 2024, as agreed last week by Aragonès and the president of the central Executive, Pedro Sánchez, in their meeting in Barcelona.
