The commission of the Statute of the Deputies will analyze if Dalmases violated the code of conduct

The Deputies' Statute Commission will analyze whether Junts per Catalunya parliamentarian Francesc de Dalmases has violated the Parliament's code of conduct, which requires its members to be exemplary, in the incident with a journalist from the TV3 program FAQS.

The Table has adopted this decision this Tuesday after a request made by the Esquerra Republicana and En Comú Podem groups, which also, together with the CUP and the PSC, sent a letter to the president of the Chamber, Laura Borràs, so that investigate the facts. However, parliamentary sources assure that the margin of maneuver of that commission, regulation in hand, does not go beyond fining the deputy.

In the institution, regardless of what is ruled by that commission chaired by the lawyer and deputy of Junts, Jaume Alonso Cuevillas, the matter will also be addressed in the control commission of the Catalan Corporació de Mitjans Audiovisuals (CCMA), which has to meet on Friday, although the session of that body has not yet been convened.

Several groups are expected to ask the president of the CCMA, Rosa Romà, about the internal report prepared by Catalan public television after the episode, described by Dalmases as a "fiery discussion", and as "coercion" and a row " intimidating" by several witnesses to the incident, in which Borràs was also present. In fact, the discussion was after an interview with the president of Parliament and JxCat. That report, which is not yet closed, is likely to certify what Nació Digital and ElDiario.es have published so far about these events, since the CCMA initially condemned Dalmases' actions in a statement.

Junts, for its part, yesterday opened an informative file on one of its vice presidents and the lawyer Magda Oranich, who is part of the party's guarantee commission, must investigate the case and find out what happened. At the end of that procedure, if she considers it so, she will refer the matter to the guarantee body for disciplinary action.

The deputy of the commons David Cid has celebrated today in a press conference that the commission of the Statute of the Deputies faces this subject. "It is a situation that has to be addressed," said the spokesman for the formation. "The Parliament cannot function as a monarchy with a court. Laura Borràs was present when the incident occurred and she has not given any explanation, on the contrary, it seems that she endorses Dalmases' actions," Cid lamented. "The committee should explain what happened and find out how the CCMA report stands," he concluded.
