Agents of the Civil Guard have shot a man in the legs to reduce him after he tried to pounce on one of them with a knife in the Coves de Vinromà (Castellón), as reported by the armed institute to Europa Press.
The events took place around 7:00 a.m. this Sunday when the Civil Guard received a notice alerting that a "very upset" person was breaking bottles in a local municipality.
A patrol has traveled to the place that has found the man in the vicinity of the establishment, where he had caused damage to a vehicle.
At this time, the 32-year-old man rushed with a knife against the agents, who shot him in the legs to reduce him.
As confirmed to Europa Press by sources from the Ministry of Health, the man has been transferred to the General Hospital of Castelló, where he remains hospitalized.
The Civil Guard has indicated that the man is attributed the crimes of serious disturbance of public order, attack against an agent of the authority and robbery with violence, since, apparently, he tried to steal a person's mobile phone.
