I have shared in La Vanguardia Readers' Photos these photographs taken from the Pedret in Girona, where a spectacular autumn picture of the river is shown.
El Pedret places us on the right bank of the Onyar River just before the confluence with the Ter, over there from the old portal of Santa Maria or França. Since the twelfth century, the leprosy hospital was located here, which was traditionally built outside the walls.
The river is historically linked to life in Pedret. So much so that, during the first third of the 20th century, the residents of the neighborhood used boats to go to the orchards they cultivated on the other bank of the river.
Other citizens rented them, in the afternoon, to take excursions and enjoy a trip along the river. Today, it is a place for walking, with good perspectives, with the Girona Cathedral in the background.
Among the places of interest in El Pedret we can also find the Hospital de Sant Llàtzer, the Archaeological and Museum Center of Pedret or the Church of Our Lady of the Pilar.
