The character of Toni Kroos

Sometimes there are words that are used in the wrong way. This is what happens with one of my favorite words, which is character. At first glance, whenever we hear this word, we relate it as a way of responding to emotions. When we attribute this word to someone, we are meaning that he has responded firmly and forcefully. And that is totally wrong, since this meaning corresponds to the word temperament. Character includes the way a person thinks, feels and acts, always reflecting his or her values and ethics. And it usually manifests itself in a notable way when great challenges appear. If I had to assign the trophy to the football player with the most character, I would give it without a doubt to Toni Kroos. He perplexes me how he handles all the events and how accurately he makes his decisions. Furthermore, it is clear that at no time does it mean that the German is a cold and distant guy, emotions reach him, but at no time do they govern him.

He left the German national team completely but understanding that that time was much more interesting to spend on his family life. He also left Bayern when he had what could surely be understood as the best coach, which was Pep Guardiola. He considered that he was not valued and understood that he had to leave. He did it without strange stories and showing a great personality. And if we observe many details of his game we see his ability to not get carried away by emotions. It was curious to see how in the Super Cup final match and with the entire Saudi Arabian public booing, he did not flinch in the slightest. And in his game you can also appreciate that character where decisions prevail over emotions and where a score against never affects him. For this reason and as happens with Busquets, the slowness with which his body moves does not harm him, because he has previously used his mind, intuiting the play, scanning the field of play before receiving the ball . And that's why he is a fast player because he supports himself in making decisions.

That's why I dare say that it is a key element in the evolution of Real Madrid's young players. Training every day with this guy, if you have qualities and the young people from Madrid have them, is an absolute guarantee of growth. Look at Valverde, a great player, who now, after two or three years, has enriched his game with the pause and simplicity that undoubtedly shows that he draws from Toni Kroos. Let's think that character, being influenced by education and socialization, can be acquired and there is nothing better than having Kroos by your side every day.
