The Catalan Anna Cornudella wins an award from the international critics

The human hibernation, debut feature by Catalan director Anna Cornudella, won this Friday one of the awards from the International Federation of Film Critics (Fipresci), the one relating to the Forum section of the Berlinale, the Berlin film festival. Critics award several prizes - one for each section of the festival - and this year in the Forum there were a total of 30 films, among which the jury chose Cornudella's.

The Fipresci awards are traditionally presented on the eve of the Saturday gala at the Berlinale Palast, in which the international jury of the Berlinale announces the official awards – Golden Bear and Silver Bears of the different categories – in the section Festival competition. This year, there are 20 films, among which the jury chaired by the Kenyan-Mexican actress Lupita Nyong'o will choose.

Fipresci critics awarded in the Competition section to the Iranian film My Favorite Cake, whose directors, Maryam Moghaddam and Behtash Sanaeeha, could not travel to Berlin due to a veto by the Government of Iran.

Anna Cornudella (Terrassa, 1991) has brought to Berlin her experimental science fiction proposal The human hibernation, filmed in the United States, in which she reflects a hypothetical society of hibernating human beings. Tickets for all passes during these days have been sold out. The Berlinale is unique among major film festivals in that it includes a large number of screenings for the public.
