The Campanar neighborhood mobilizes to help its neighbors affected by the fire in Valencia

Neighbors of the Campanar neighborhood of València, where the buildings affected by a large fire are located and which has caused the death of at least four people and another 19 missing, are mobilizing to provide help to the people affected by the tragedy this Thursday. .

An academy that serves children with special needs has become the logistics center to collect clothing, shelter items and food for those affected.

This is the case of Virgilio, a resident of the area who, together with his wife, is providing water, clothing and various belongings. "Misfortune cannot be avoided, but it can be made more bearable," he asserts.

This Valencian lives about 300 meters from the affected properties and this afternoon, while playing in the park with his granddaughters, they began to see the enormous columns of smoke.

"It so happened that next to us there was a couple who a few days ago sold an apartment and bought an apartment exactly on this property. He started to get upset and we told him 'look, your daughter is well, you are fine and he said, it's true, the insurance will be fixed.'"

Subsequently, they received a WhatsApp that was being distributed throughout the neighborhood requesting help and, therefore, they collected blankets and food to take to the collection point.

"We came here, thanking the health workers, the security forces, the journalists, all of you who are collaborating," Virgilio concluded.

The mayor of València, María José Catalá, and the councilors Juan Carlos Caballero and Paula Llobet have come to one of the premises.
