The festival will be held between July 4 and 9 at the Girona Cinemas. In total, nine feature films and eighteen short films will be screened, as well as a series of dialogues, round tables and master classes with the teams of these productions or around their theme.
A few days before the start of The Big Screen and within the framework of this festival, the Film Library of Catalonia will screen the musical Singing in the Rain (1952), and to celebrate the fifth edition, on July 2 there will be a concert in the square from Vila de Gràcia with Son de la Rambla.

Tribute to Teresa Gimpera
The festival's lifetime achievement award is given each year. In previous editions, the award has gone to artists of the stature of Montserrat Carulla, Carme Elías and Carme Sansa. This year the honoree will be the actress and model Teresa Gimpera, a member of the Gauche Divine who accumulates more than a hundred film titles and a life example to dismantle prejudices and stereotypes about the elderly.
Cinema as a tool for change and awareness
The Barcelona International Film Festival for the Elderly is a project of the entity elParlante in collaboration with the Department of Children, Youth, the Elderly and People with Disabilities of Barcelona City Council. The Big Screen wants to promote cinema as a tool for dialogue, reflection and social transformation around the imaginaries that society perpetuates on the elderly.
The programming offers different views with themes related to love, care, loneliness, the digital divide, the climate emergency or intergenerational relationships.
