The bases of Podemos Galicia obey Iglesias and reject the coalition with Sumar

Those registered in Podemos Galicia have obeyed the instructions of the party's former state general secretary Pablo Iglesias and have refused to appear as a coalition in the regional elections in February with 63.36% noes compared to only 36.25% yeses.

According to the results provided this Saturday by the State Organization Secretariat of the consultation carried out on Thursday and Friday, only 911 Podemos Galicia activists positioned themselves in favor of the coalition under the Sumar Galicia brand and with Sumar's spokesperson in Congress, Marta Lois, as head of the list. 1,567 registered voters supported the victory of the no vote and another 35 voted blank.

The consultation coincided with the primaries to elect the Podemos candidate for the same elections, who will be for the Presidency of the Xunta once the coalition with Sumar, Izquierda Unida, Alianza Verde and Equo on which the coordinator of We can Galicia, Borja San Ramón.

The winner, in this case, was the San Ramón favorite, Isabel Faraldo, with 41.66% of the votes (1,041 in total), compared to the alternative list led by Charo Varela, which obtained 34.66% ( 871). 595 militants voted blank.

For his part, Sumar has regretted the decision of the Podemos Galicia grassroots to reject the electoral coalition pre-agreement for the 18F elections and is now focused on being key to political change in this community.

From the formation led by Yolanda Díaz they have emphasized that there is a "historic opportunity" on 18F to "remove Galicia from paralysis" and for "air to flow in the Xunta", in reference to the objective of unseating the PP from the autonomous government. Therefore, they have proclaimed that they are throwing themselves into the electoral contest.

The coalition pre-agreement that had been forged, and already rejected by the purple militancy, reserved for the purples the second place in the constituency for A Coruña and the first for Lugo, as well as the third for Orense and the fourth for Pontevedra, while Sumar took first place in Coruña and Pontevedra, with more possibilities of winning a seat. In addition, the head of the list, in this case Marta Lois, was left to Sumar, as well as the electoral brand and the parliamentary spokesperson of the future parliamentary group.

Meanwhile, the co-founder of the party Juan Carlos Monedero differed from Iglesias and defended voting yes to run alongside Sumar in the Galician elections so as not to fracture the left, despite the fact that his offer to Podemos was "arrogant" and a "trap."
