Spring sunrises and sunsets are experienced in a special way on Barrosa beach, the great sandy area of Chiclana. It is the art of chasing the sun, as can be seen in this series of photographs in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.

La Barrosa beach is the great sandy area of Chiclana and one of the most popular in the province of Cádiz and Andalusia. With an extension of 8 km, it exceeds 100 meters in some sections.

Due to its extension, three parts of this beach are popularly differentiated, known as First, Second and Third Track. In the First is the long promenade; the Second has residential areas; and the Third Track is the one that corresponds to the beach of the Novo Sancti Petri urbanization, with most of the hotels on the Chiclanera coast.

Despite the importance of tourism, the beach has managed to preserve its natural environment in a good way, more than in other areas of the Andalusian coast. It extends from the cliff that separates it from Sancti Petri beach to Loma del Puerco.

This area of the coast of Cádiz also has its history and there are still vestiges that attest to it. On March 5, 1811, one of the most important chapters in the Spanish War of Independence took place on this beach, the Battle of Chiclana or La Barrosa, in which Anglo-Spanish troops defeated Napoleon's French troops.

The Torre Bermeja (located on the cliff that separates the Barrosa beach from the Sancti Petri beach) and the Torre del Puerco, located on the hill of the same name, are preserved from this period, although the latter tower already existed since the 16th century. . Defensive walls are also preserved on the islet of Sancti Petri.
