The alleged blackmail of Genoveva Casanova for her photos with Federico of Denmark

Genoveva Casanova has been, without a doubt, the great victim of the scandal of the photographs that Lecturas published last November and almost managed to put the Danish royal house in check. The Mexican socialite appeared accompanying the then Crown Prince Frederick of Denmark through Madrid, and the images caused a veritable information tsunami at the European level.

Some snapshots of which, apparently, Genoveva Casanova knew of their existence before their publication and for which they supposedly asked her for an exorbitant amount to remove them; an alleged blackmail to which she would never have given in.

Luis Pliego, director of Lecturas, appeared in TardeAR to clarify this alleged blackmail, the role of his magazine in all of this and how the publication of the exclusive controversy that has not stopped being talked about in recent months had come about. As he explains, they were not aware at that time that the former Countess of Salvatierra had supposedly been asked for 250,000 euros to remove these images.

"I bought them 15 days before their publication and withdrew them from the Spanish market," explains Pliego, adding that it was other international media that told the Mexican about the existence of those images. "At that point she doesn't say anything and hangs up the phone."

According to the director of the aforementioned publication, it is then that the Mexican prepares to gather information about how and when those photos were published. When you call your favorite magazine, they don't believe it. "They practically did not give it credibility because they had not seen the photos. It was purely logical," adds Pliego. "The normal thing is that being that regular character from the other magazine they would have offered the photos to them."

Pliego explains that when Genoveva Casanova supposedly notifies the now King Federico of the publication of the images, it is impossible to stop them. Even so, he confirms that he never received a request to stop them. "What they tell me is that the photographers know that she, through the news and another person, is interested in knowing the value of the market" two days after the publication of the magazine.

What Pliego also clarifies is that, to the best of his knowledge, Genoveva was never asked for 250,000 euros, at least from his magazine. "That calculation is made, but it is not blackmail as such. She is never asked for that amount because it is not published."

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark decided to start 2024 with a historic decision: to abdicate in favor of her eldest son. It was known to all that the queen herself was not planning to abdicate, so there are already those who point to the possible reason that would have led her to do so: the scandal of the images of Federico and Genoveva Casanova.

"If Federico

"For a year now there has been this deeper friendship and the Danish crown knew it and they did not want a big problem," journalist Paloma Barrientos added in another intervention, explaining the possible reason for the rapid coronation: "If in the future they decide to separate being king, it's a very different thing."
