Households resist: they earn more, but money is disappearing at a rapid pace, whether due to the cost of living, rising interest rates or taxes. Are too many paid? The eternal debate. The good news is that salaries are rising, although less than desired, and so are savings. But be careful not to let your guard down.

- More money. Increasing income is necessary to confront the rising price of the shopping basket. Salaries rise, but below what employers and unions recommend, while a new increase in the minimum wage is being discussed again, now at 1,080 euros per month, although SMEs see it as unaffordable.

- The tax bill. The high cost of living does not go beyond family budgets, and neither does the treasury. Most Spaniards welcome paying taxes, although some think there are too many. Despite this, taxpayers with large assets are increasing. And a change that is coming: the new taxation of the self-employed.

- Thicken the mattress. Once the account with the treasury has been settled, it is time to set aside some money and, if possible, make it grow. A recommendation that households take into account, since on average they continue to save, even if they do not leave everything in the checking account or keep it in deposits. The most conservative continue to bet on Treasury bills, which continue to give a return of more than 3%, while those with a more risky profile try to make their money profitable with methods such as copy trading.

- Without brake. Another option is to invest in real estate, a market that is holding up despite the sharp rise in rates. The price of housing has been rising for 37 quarters. A trend that puts the most modest pockets in trouble. Given this panorama, it is time to crunch the numbers and calculate what maximum percentage of the salary must be allocated to this item. However, there are unexpected situations, such as the arrival of a DANA, that can be ruinous if certain aspects are not taken into account when purchasing insurance.

The drums of crisis cease. Households are resisting and so is the eurozone economy, which grew by 0.1% in the second quarter of the year, as confirmed by Eurostat. An almost insignificant rebound, but for now it removes the specter of an economic recession.

Another of the great concerns of the European Union and the rest of the world is climate change. To stop it, France is considering applying a tax to low-cost flights throughout Europe. A measure that would be added to the ban in France on short regional flights with a train alternative.
