A week before the Fallas officially begin, municipal subsidies will reach the Fallas commissions of València. This was stated yesterday by the councilor spokesperson, Juan Carlos Caballero, who explained that the council will thus fulfill its commitment to the presidents, of falla, "whom we promised would collect the aid before the fallera week began." They are a total of 2.2 million euros and represents an increase in the tax base of the cost of the monument, which goes from 27% to 30% compared to the previous year.
The rules of the call set a maximum price of the work to be executed of 239,000 euros (VAT included) for the large falla and 33,231 euros (VAT included) for the children's falla. On the other hand, they establish a VAT tax rate for failures of 10%, with the exception of those made by the commission itself and that of the Naranjos-Universidad Politècnica fallera commission, which is 21%.
Likewise, the design and construction costs of Fallas monuments (large and children's) are subsidized. And in the case of monuments whose authorship corresponds to the commission itself, the costs of materials, plant insurance policy, rental of premises, and electricity or similar costs are subsidized. These grants are compatible with other subsidies, aid, income or resources for the same purpose.
The amounts will arrive this next week, Caballero assured yesterday, and will surely be a relief for the commissions, which these days are finalizing the payment of the entire administration to celebrate the Fallas festivities. This weekend there will already be events in many of the Fallas festivals, but it will be next week when the streets begin to be decorated with lights - the contest ones will be judged starting on Tuesday, March 6 - and to be filled with tents, also cutting off traffic in multitude of points in the city to the annoyance of some and the enjoyment of others.
Today will be the day of the traditional Cavalgata del Ninot and tomorrow the celebration of the Crida, rescheduled after the Campanar fire and the three days of mourning that Valencia plunged into. The day will be long, with macro-awakening in the early hours, live music, mascletà and much partying, to end with the fallera welcome to the fiestas from the iconic Torres de Serranos.
